Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify advanced alteration techniques and select appropriate industrial machines and tools to achieve flawless finishes as per industry norms.
  • Perform complex alterations on lined and layered garments, including shortening full tulle wedding dresses with raw hem finishes, letting out seams, and incorporating gussets into designer evening gowns.
  • Execute specialized alterations for woven evening wear, bridal gowns, and men’s formalwear, such as adding bra cups to gowns, reattaching lace appliqués, shortening men’s shirt cuffs, adjusting jacket sleeve lengths, and tapering sleeves for a modern fit.
  • Transfer precise alteration markings onto garments using professional methods aligned with industry best practices.
  • Alter garments accurately based on markings using appropriate sewing and finishing machines.
  • Measure and assess the final altered garment against specifications, ensuring quality and fit standards are met.

Items Required For Class

Before your class begins, we'd like you to make sure that you have the following items so that the class can proceed smoothly.

  • Garment - Tembusu will provide samples.
  • Tape Measures and Pins - Accessories.

Students are required to bring their Stationery too. List of stationery has been stated below.

  3. 2B Pencil (and sharpener or extra lead depending on type of pencil used)
  4. Eraser/Rubber
  5. 1-inch paper masking tape
  6. Glue stick
  7. Notebook

Sewing Toolkit and Marker paper

Attached is the new Tembusu Sewing Toolkit list and Marker Paper requirements. The toolkit is required for ALL students who take Tembusu’s Sewing Courses for all new sign-ups from 1 March 2024 onwards.

We do not offer any make-up or replacement classes.

Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
