Overview
There are two broad approaches to accounting education: the user and preparer perspectives. The user perspective focuses on learning how to use accounting information for decision-making, which is what non-accountants are interested in and accountants are increasingly required to do, whereas the preparer perspective focuses on learning how to prepare and present accounting information, which is the realm of what accountants do. The syllabus places emphasis on developing students to become users of accounting information, knowledge and skills that will be valuable in any field of work or life. It is also recognised that the knowledge and skills in preparing and presenting accounting information are valuable and worth acquiring. Being able to prepare and present accounting information will help students to better appreciate how the information should be used. The knowledge and skills of a preparer will provide students who aspire to specialise in accounting after the A-Level with the necessary foundations.

Course Topics
Accounting Principles and Concepts Learning Outcome: Understand and apply fundamental accounting concepts such as matching, accrual, and prudence.
Double-Entry Bookkeeping and Journals Learning Outcome: Record financial transactions using the double-entry system accurately.
Financial Statements (Sole Proprietors, Partnerships, Companies) Learning Outcome: Prepare and explain income statements and balance sheets for sole proprietorships and Partnerships.
Adjustments and Reconciliation Learning Outcome: Perform adjustments for accruals, depreciation, and inventory in final accounts.
Ratio Analysis and Interpretation Learning Outcome: Interpret financial ratios to evaluate business performance and financial health.
Decision-Making using Accounting Learning Outcome: Use financial information to support decision-making in business contexts.
Certificate Issuance
Upon completing the course, the student will be awarded a Tembusu Certificate in Principles of Accounting.
To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

and

Student has attained the Singapore-Cambridge GCE (O Level) or equivalent, with a grade of C6 or higher in English Language, and a grade of C6 or higher in Mathematics and Physics.
Graduation
To graduate, you must fulfil the following requirements

75% attendance rate of total training hours per module
and
2
Successful completion of A-Level preparatory course is determined by fulfilling the required course duration and meeting all assessment criteria.
International Students
To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

and

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
Tembusu Institute schedules classes on selected public holidays to cater to adult learners. Public holiday classes provide greater flexibility and accessibility for learners who may not be able to attend weekday or regular working-hour classes due to work, family or caregiving commitments. All schedules are planned and communicated clearly to students prior to course commencement.
Class schedules, including lessons conducted on public holidays, are communicated to students prior to course commencement. Students are given the option to select an alternative schedule where classes do not coincide with public holidays at the point of enrolment, subject to availability. If a student chooses to proceed with a schedule that includes public holiday classes and subsequently requests to miss or defer a lesson for personal or religious reasons, standard deferment policies apply. This may include applicable deferment or administrative fees, in accordance with Tembusu Institute's published course terms and conditions. No additional penalties are imposed beyond these stated policies, and the same approach is applied consistently to all students.
