Basic Draft & Sew: Sleeveless Draped Top

Short Course Apparel Design and Product Development
Learn basic sewing and pattern drafting by creating a sleeveless draped top. Perfect for beginners to build foundational garment-making skills.
Overview

This course introduces participants to the development of a contemporary boat neck top with a one-sided draped shoulder detail, focusing on both pattern manipulation and garment construction. Learners will gain hands-on experience in transforming a basic bodice block into a stylised design through draping techniques, specifically using the slash-and-spread method to create controlled volume and soft fabric flow.

Emphasis is placed on accuracy in measurements, pattern adaptation, and achieving clean, professional finishes. By the end of the course, participants will be able to translate design concepts into a well-constructed garment suitable for retail or bespoke applications.
