BRIDGING PROGRAMME
This is a short-term, targeted preparation course that supports students' entry into Kingston University School of Art.

Objective: To develop students' understanding of the historical development of fashion media and promotion, and to enhance their academic writing skills through a 1500-word essay.

Professional Practice 2 (30 credits)

Critical Issues in Fashion: Research and Practice (30 credits)
Builds on Level 4 content, focusing on the theorisation of contemporary fashion practice.
Combines lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, screenings, and visits to support independent research and development.
Deepens critical and theoretical engagement with contemporary fashion issues through seminars and assessments.
Introduces research methodologies via case studies and practical activities linked to contemporary fashion topics.
Culminates the course, synthesising theory, business application, and personal/professional practice into a self-directed project.
Offers the opportunity to define and visually communicate personal position and ambition within the industry.

Professional Showcase (30 credits)
Develops a visually fluent promotional activity targeting a specified audience, showcasing individual work.

Provides opportunities for career-focused research, analysis, and documentation of work, with support from the Personal Tutor Scheme, Careers Service, and other resources.
Fashion Realisation (30 credits)
Prepares students for the Fashion Promotion Campaign (Capstone Project) by negotiating and visualising a creative, concept-driven brief.
Focuses on developing a mature, responsible approach to individual practice within professional industry expectations.
Engages with external projects/competitions to build upon existing work and contextualise it competitively within the global creative community.
Dissertation (30 credits)
Enables independent research in fashion studies, allowing students to develop a personal research topic and apply relevant methods.
Involves managing study time, engaging with feedback, and producing a 7,000-8,000-word dissertation using critical and analytical tools.

Academic Entry Requirements (Direct entry to Year 2): Successful completion of the Advanced Diploma in Fashion Technology at Tembusu Institute. Evidence of this qualification wil be provided either through official certification or by data shared directly between Tembusu Institute and Kingston University.
